Scope
The department of Oral Medicine & Radiology is committed to excellence in teaching, research, diagnosis and patient care. The speciality highlights the role of the dentist in identifying oral health problems in the context of overall health status as a diagnostician.Curriculum includes assessment of overall health of the patient and its impact on oral health care, salivary gland disorders, temporomandibular disorders, orofacial pain disorders, oral manifestations of systemic diseases, and dental management of patients with complex medical issues and disabilities.Patients with adverse habits and tobacco use of any kind are given additional attention during examinations in order to identify and diagnose early-stage malignant or potentially malignant alterations in the oral cavity and treat them at the earliest to improve the quality of life of the patient.Our speciality is also extending its arm in the field of forensic science with an intention of resolving the legal issues by dental age assessment, personal identification and gender determination.
